Monday:

Today we will…


· Discuss the definition of stereotypes as a class

· Get into groups and talk about the different types of stereotypes that exist. Make a flow chart on kidspiration that displays stereotypes. (Be prepared to share with the class if time permits).

· Learn about the author’s background and the background of the time period. Read through a worksheet on the author’s biography and read it aloud by method of teacher instruction.

Tuesday

Today we will…


· Begin class by writing a journal on stereotypes and how they affect the world.

· Go over the vocabulary and definitions for some of the words in “Jury of Her Peers”

· Get into groups and make a Power Point for two or three different vocabulary words based on how many groups there are and how many kids are present.

· Read through “Jury of Her Peers”

Today we will…


· Begin class by writing a journal about how you felt about the story. What your favorite part of the story and/or what parts of the story do you dislike the most?

· Discuss in groups the reasons why the men did not take the women seriously

· Discuss as a class the ideas your group came up with then discuss as a class why the women did not say anything about the widow.

· Have a test on the vocabulary for “Jury of Her Peers” · Review the author’s background, theme and clues in “Jury of Her Peers”, and any possible short answer questions in order to get ready for the test over “Jury of Her peers.”
